Things You Would Have Never Thought About....

So, it's been a while since I have made a post! But, I have been saving some funny, odd, spice of life stories up! Here goes!

Our house has a black hole: It's name is Cayden
So over the past few weeks, we have been noticing things missing, some have been found, others, not so much. The T.V. remote, a Nalgene Bottle, shoes and other stuff I'm sure we haven't noticed missing yet will turn up nowhere to be found. Our little guy, just picks things up as he rumbles through the house unbeknownst to us and poof, gone! We found the remote in a toy box, the Nalgene bottle was under the bed, and we still can't find our camera charger and after two weeks of searching had to buy a new one. This morning, Tracie caught our little monster carrying the dog bowl into our bedroom. I guess someone wanted to feed Elwood breakfast in bed!

On today's lunch menu, fruit, chicken noodle soup and kibble
We try to feed Cayden healthy food, a few treats here and there and from the strain on my back picking him up, the kid doesn't go hungry. So why does he want to eat Dog Food? Most days, if you don't keep a close eye on him, after eating and sharing some food with Elwood, he will waddle over to the dog bowl and try to eat dog food. Some times we catch him, sometimes we don't. We figure, a few pieces a day can't hurt, right?

The kid is a dancing machine. Unfortunately, he inherited my slick moves.
Sitting in the car, in his high-chair, standing in the kitchen, it doesn't matter, our little guy hears a song and he starts bopping his head. As he has gotten steadier on his feet, his moves have gotten more complex. Now, he is bopping, bending at the waist and sticking out his butt (my signature move, by-the-way) and twirling. We even caught him on video (which I need to edit and put on the blog) putting his hands on his knees and shaking his little booty. All I can say is, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Finally someone else who can take Elwood for a walk.
Little Buddha, isn't so little anymore. He is walking on his own, and would prefer to walk from the car to the house by himself and pretty much anywhere else for that matter. One of his newest favorite things is walking Elwood. He will take the leash and with a little supervision and gentle threats for Elwood to behave, take him for a walk. I think Tracie was the first to witness this little episode. She was getting ready to take the boys for a walk and had put Elwood's leash on him and had to get something before she could leave. She comes back to see Cayden leading Elwood through the house and Elwood just kind of hanging out. Now, when she gets ready for her afternoon trip to the park, the boys are both standing at the door prancing together, waiting for a walk. He even passed on playing at the playground to walk Elwood around the playground equipment. I think the two of them are becoming fast friends, and Elwood is finally realizing that his little personal cheerio dispenser, isn't half bad.

It's Who's Clues? Blue's Clues
So every morning from 7:00 – 8:00 on Nick Jr., its Blues Clues. Our favorite is Steve (and by we, I mean me. Im a 100% Steve fan. This new guy Joe, is no Steve, Cayden could care less, but I digress). So on the rare mornings I'm still at home at this hour, I will turn on the TV for Cayden, while I get dressed and he will drink milk and watch for 10 seconds before getting back to hiding our stuff. Most parents, could care less about this show. But, at this hour, home-shopping would keep my limited attention, so a grown man dancing around with a blue dog is more than enough to keep my attention away from getting ready. So my loving wife, keeps me on track and slowly but surely I get ready to go to work. One morning, her gentle prodding was met with...Me, belting out the Blue's Clue's Mail-time Song Side-note. Mail time, is when Steve and Blue get a letter, the song goes a little something like this...Here's the mail, it never fails. It makes me want to wag my tail. When it comes I want to wail - Mail! Needless to say, my cartoon time has been cut way back.

Happy HaLLoWeeN!

Cayden just wants to be held and cuddle with his blankets but after a long nap in the rocking chair he decided to have a little fun today! Our lil guy is still smiling even though he continues to have an ear infection and low temperature...

He's definitely OUR FAVORITE GREEN MONSTAH!

All Nighters

After two nights of sleeping in rocking chairs and a temperature that started yesterday afternoon, we called the surgeon this morning. After hearing how normal Cayden was on Friday afternoon and all day Sat. Dr. Soutter suggested seeing the pediatrician. Dr. Hong confirmed Daddy's theory...C has his first ear infection. His surgery took a nap to recover from, this - not so much. Our eggroll is hurting so please pray our lil man gets better soon! We'd like to have a healthy and happy green monstah for HaLLowEEn on Sat...

1st Surgery

Cayden's surgery went really well today and the doctor said it was a success! We arrived at the hospital a little after 6 a.m. and we were home by 10 a.m. so that was nice. Fairfax Children's Hospital was amazing and the staff was so caring and friendly. He's been resting all day and loved the balloons and stuffed animal sent by his godmother! John and I just wanted to send a note saying THANKS again for all of the love, prayers and calls!!!

Fall Changes

We've had some very good things happen in the last few days here at Buddha Central! We spent the weekend enjoying the fall weather and Buddha helped daddy in the back yard by keeping track of the rake. We celebrated Connor's first birthday and met more of Ashley and Aaron's wonderful family, had fun at the Del Ray Arts Festival with Annie (mommy's all time favorite! - fabulous jewelry, crafts and yummy crabcakes and BBQ), helped daddy with some video for his class and baked cookies.

Cayden is our adorable lil man but he's starting to hit his terrible twos a bit early. Last week was the first time we had to make QUICK exits from our favorite Thai restaurant when having dinner with Helen and then the library the next day so mommy and daddy have been hit with a learning curve on what to do when your toddler wants HIS way, right away! We have quickly learned to include time for him to roam/explore/run during outtings. For instance, we met some friends for dinner at the Japanese place tonight but before we went into the restaurant, our chinaman ran around the lil gazebo area for a bit and was then a very good boy during dinner :)

Cayden loved Japanese! He thought the nice asian chef was funny and I told him he was at the very least a distant cousin...afterall, we are related to half of NY and we've never met the majority of Chins out there so who knows?! He loved the food too. Lil man ate most of mommy's miso soup, feasted on zucchini and ate half of daddy's shrimp. His girlfriend, Ruthie, was there too and I wish we had a picture of her face when they lit the grill on fire during one of the tricks. She looked at the chef like "that is not supposed to happen, are you nuts" and she's just 13 mos old. She also cried when they threw shrimp at her daddy and daddy didn't catch it in his mouth. High expectations that one! Cayden loved the pyrotechnics.

Mommy is heading back to work full time in January and is very excited! The year+ with Buddha has been amazing but she is ready to be challenged in a different way again. So, our search for a nanny has begun and are meeting with a woman on Tuesday that we think might be the answer to our prayers. Such a hard decision to find someone you trust to not only take care of your child's basic needs but someone who enjoys being with kids and will have fun with him on a daily basis (yes, we're asking for a lot but I guess we always will when it comes to our lil eggroll). Mommy will be working from her home office 4 days a week and go into the DC office for meetings once a week. With the new President and lots of fresh ideas for a new year, she can't wait to get started. The lineup this year is Toronto, London and Fort Worth, TX.

We've also been talking about sprucing up the house a bit and I think we've finally picked new colors for the main floor. Fall is here and we are going to be taking advantage of the next three months before life changes drastically once again!

On a side-note, today is our 11th anniversary together! Yep, 11 years ago today, we started this crazy life together with one small kiss at Hokie House in Blacksburg, VA!

Oopsy Daddy!

I had to tell this story. After our morning routine and nap, it was time for a snack, some milk and daddy to pack up and head out to run some errands. After running around, it was time to come home, fix lunch and put the Buddha in bed for his nap. While washing my hands in the bathroom, I look down at my shirt and realize the pocket on my polo was missing. "Hmm I think, where did it fall off, was it torn, that is odd." Upon closer inspection, I realize that the pocket is there, but on the right instead of the left but you cant stick anything in it...It gets better. Still a bit confused and ruffled from running around for the past few hours, Im thinking, " I know that pocket was on the left."

It is on the left, when you shirt isn't on inside out! I had ran around with my shirt on inside out for over two hours, and not once did I notice the stares or anything. I mean, I routinely get hit on my senior citizens when I'm out with Cayden, so grandmothers smiling at us is not out of question. I guess the other moms were laughing on the inside as they saw a crazy dad running around town. This whole stay at home dad thing takes some getting used to. At least the diapers have all been put on correctly...this time.
